Originally, the ministry provided various levels of assistance, from construction as well as direct financial assistance to pastors. Then, beginning in 2006, the structure changed as more and more demand for discipleship and Bible training was requested by the pastors mainly because within the small churches contacted, none of them had a formal theological education. Currently, the ministry is mainly known as a ” discipleship ministry”, with a specialized focus on supporting the call to the Great Commission as found in Mathew 28:19-29. For this reason, all activities concentrate on developing and acquiring material, to help equip pastors and their leaders in their efforts to make disciples.
The manner by which the training is done is through the gathering of small groups of pastors each in a given geographical area. Each group then meets periodically to review, through an interactive workshop, all the material provided. Interaction during the sessions is encouraged to insure that the material is absorbed in a manner that enables the pastors to implement it within their local cultures. The leadership of Reaching Across Ministries also conducts presentations to congregations. both in English or Spanish.
