Our History

Who We Are

We are a Bible based non-denominational ministry with the mission of assisting pastors that do not have a formal biblical education. Typically these pastors have established churches, mostly in small Spanish speaking communities along the US & Mexico border.

How We Started

In 1996 a visit was made to Nava, Mexico responding to the request of a pastor seeking medical assistance for a young boy in his congregation who was suffering from a cancerous tumor on his back. Later, assistance was extended to help the pastor with his church in a very poor community, and this awoke the mission team to the need of many more churches needing help along the border. The work continued to grow, and in 2006 the ministry was officially founded as Reaching Across Ministries (RAM) under the direction of its director, Rick Lay, with the primary objective of offering discipleship training material to pastors. Over the following decades, RAM has celebrated many milestones – from helping a few churches in one city to helping over 120 churches in 9 cities along the US and Mexico border. Assistance has also been given to Wounann and Embera indigenous churches in Panama.
